South Korea eked out a narrow 3-2 victory against China in their third Champions Trophy match held at Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulun Buir, China. The match thrilled spectators with nail-biting action, ultimately decided by goals from Hyeonhong Kim (21'), Junghoo Kim (53'), and Jihun Yang (55').
India continues to dominate the table as the only team to clinch a semifinal spot with three consecutive wins. South Korea’s victory placed them second, ahead of Pakistan due to goal difference, leaving China in fourth. Initially, China appeared dominant with strong home support and successfully converting a penalty corner in the 14th minute via Jiesheng Gao's drag-flick, leading 1-0 early in the game.
Korea equalized in the second quarter through a penalty corner by Hyeonhong Kim, compelling China to fortify their attack. Despite several attempts, China couldn’t find another goal, and the third quarter ended in a stalemate. In a dramatic final quarter, Korea capitalized on China's defensive errors, scoring two more goals via Junghoo Kim and Jihun Yang. China pulled one back in the 60th minute through Ziyang Huang, but Korea held on for a 3-2 win.
