Tottenham Hotspur's new striker Dominic Solanke is back in training and should be available for Sunday's north London Premier League derby against Arsenal, manager Ange Postecoglou announced on Friday. Solanke had signed from Bournemouth in a deal worth up to 65 million pounds ($85.47 million) but missed two games due to an ankle injury.
In addition to Solanke's return, defender Micky van de Ven will also be available for selection after missing the previous match against Newcastle United. Postecoglou noted that both players participated fully in recent training sessions, raising hopes for their fitness ahead of the derby.
Tottenham has had a mixed start to the season, securing only four points from a potential nine. Despite dominating their games, the team's inefficiency in converting goal attempts has cost them valuable points. Postecoglou remains optimistic, stating that maintaining their current level of play over the season should yield positive results.
Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, have re-emerged as Premier League title contenders, adding pressure to the upcoming clash. Postecoglou acknowledged Arsenal's confidence and described the match as a significant opportunity for his side.
Despite facing an FA charge for inappropriate comments about teammate Son Heung-min, Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to start on Sunday. Postecoglou emphasized the importance of learning from the incident, pointing out Bentancur's apology and Son's acceptance.
