Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has issued a stark warning about rising injuries among top soccer players, attributing it to the increasingly congested match schedules.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri limped out of Sunday's English Premier League clash with Arsenal due to a knee injury, voicing earlier concerns about the grueling schedule. Other elite players like Kevin De Bruyne and Martin Odegaard are also sidelined as the season starts. Ten Hag emphasized that players are being overloaded, which is detrimental to their well-being and the sport.

“There are too many games. It's clear. Too many competitions,'' Ten Hag remarked. ''For the top players, they are overloaded, and this isn’t good for football, even if it may be good for commercial interests. The inevitable consequence is player injuries,” he added.

Concerns have heightened after reports suggested Rodri might have suffered an ACL injury. City has not confirmed yet, but these injuries raise alarms about the physical and mental demands on players. Expansions in tournaments like the Champions League and the upcoming Club World Cup only add to the crowded calendar, prompting legal challenges and heightened dispute from players' unions against the overloaded schedules.
