Italy Clinches Victory in Youth America's Cup with Stellar Performance

Italy triumphed in the Youth America's Cup with a decisive win against the United States in their final match in Barcelona, setting the stage for the main America's Cup in October. The Italian team took an early lead following a U.S. timing error and maintained their advantage throughout the six-leg race.

Italy emerged victorious in the Youth America's Cup on Thursday, securing a dominant win over the United States in the Mediterranean waters off Barcelona.

This competition is a precursor to the main America's Cup scheduled for October, where defenders New Zealand will face off against either Britain or Italy for the prestigious trophy. The Italian AC40 foiling monohull's jubilant crew celebrated with screams and hugs after crossing the finish line.

The U.S. team faltered with their timing before the start, leading to a penalty that allowed the Italians to seize an early lead. Italy extended this advantage throughout the six-leg race, effortlessly 'flying' above the waves on their hydrofoils. Marco Gradoni, Italy's co-helm, praised his team on the America's Cup live broadcast, saying, 'This is an amazing team.'
