Defending champions India made a strong start in the women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament, overpowering Malaysia with a decisive 4-0 victory. India's goals came courtesy of Sangita Kumari, who scored twice, Preeti Dubey, and Udita, setting a commanding tone for the tournament.

In an exciting match-up, Sangita Kumari found the back of the net in both the 8th and 55th minutes, while Preeti Dubey scored in the 43rd minute and Udita added one more in the 44th minute. India will next challenge South Korea, aiming to continue their winning streak.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Japan and South Korea ended in a 2-2 draw. Meanwhile, Olympic silver medallist China showcased their prowess with an overwhelming 15-0 win against Thailand, marking a thrilling day of competitive hockey.
