England's cricket team faced another disappointing setback after suffering a 142-run loss against India in the concluding ODI match of the series held in Ahmedabad. The defeat not only secured a series whitewash for India at 3-0 but also highlighted England's continued struggles against dominant teams in the limited-overs format.
Despite showing potential in brief phases of play, England failed to match India's level of execution and skill. Jos Buttler, England's captain, remarked on his team's inability to capitalize on promising starts both in the final match and throughout the tour. "Our approach is the right one. We just haven't executed it well," Buttler stated in a post-match interview with ESPNcricinfo.
India set a daunting target with a superb innings from Shubman Gill, who scored 112 runs. Buttler praised Gill's innings but lamented England's inability to extend their early momentum. India, led by Gill's knock and contributions from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, posted a formidable 356-run total, further exploiting England's weaknesses as Arshdeep Singh's bowling derailed England's chase.
