In a tense showdown at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025 in Qingdao, China, India displayed exceptional resilience but fell short, succumbing to a 2-3 defeat against South Korea. The Indian team, already assured of a place in the knockout rounds, fought vigorously to clinch the top spot in Group D.

Sathish Kumar Karunakaran exhibited remarkable tenacity under pressure, overcoming Cho Geonyeop in a thrilling three-set match. Following his lead, the women's doubles pairing of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly boosted Indian hopes by defeating Kim Min Ji and Kim Yu Jung, leveling the tie at 2-2.

However, the final men's doubles match, with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and MR Arjun up against Jin Yong and Na Sung Seung, proved to be the decider. Despite a spirited comeback in the second game, the Indian pair narrowly lost 25-23, sealing South Korea's group victory. Earlier, India dominated Macau 5-0, confirming their advancement to the knockout stage.
