Matthew Mott Joins Delhi Capitals: A Strategic Move for IPL Success

Former England white-ball coach Matthew Mott has been appointed as assistant coach for the IPL team Delhi Capitals. Mott, known for his success with the Australian women's team, joins a revamped coaching staff including head coach Hemang Badani and bowling coach Munaf Patel as the team seeks its first IPL title.

In a strategic move to strengthen its coaching team, the Delhi Capitals have appointed Matthew Mott as assistant coach for the upcoming IPL season. The former England men's white-ball coach will work alongside head coach Hemang Badani, a change from October last year, as part of the franchise's bid for its maiden title.

Mott brings a wealth of experience, having led the Australian women's cricket team to multiple international victories, including two T20 World Cups and an ODI World Cup. His tenure with England's men's white-ball team culminated in a T20 World Cup championship in 2022 before he stepped down last July.

The Delhi Capitals, aiming for their first IPL triumph, have overhauled their coaching lineup by replacing Ricky Ponting with Badani and appointing Munaf Patel as the new bowling coach, in place of James Hopes. The team will begin its campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam on March 24.
