In Rawalpindi, incessant rain washed out the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the ICC confirmed on its official website. With this result, both teams were awarded a point each, yet remain out of contention for the semi-finals after prior losses to India and New Zealand.

The hosts, Pakistan, have had a challenging tournament, faltering in their opening match against New Zealand in Karachi and succumbing to India in Dubai. Similarly, Bangladesh saw their hopes dashed with defeats against India and New Zealand, making any further victory purely academic.

Elsewhere, Afghanistan triumphed over England in a Group B thriller. Ibrahim Zadran led with a historic 177-run innings, propelling Afghanistan to a record 325/7. Despite a commendable effort by Joe Root, it was Azmatullah Omarzai's 5/58 figures that secured Afghanistan's spot in a competitive race for the semi-finals against Australia and South Africa. England, however, is now out of the running.
