The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) made a significant catch by detaining two sports officials in Parbhani, Maharashtra, including a woman District Sports Officer (DSO), Kavita Navande. The officials were nabbed for taking a Rs 1.5 lakh bribe, shedding light on widespread corruption within the sports sector.

The case originated from a complaint by an individual responsible for organizing a sports tournament in 2024. This person was entitled to receive Rs 5 lakh from the Parbhani DSO. Additionally, Rs 90 lakh was allocated for the construction of a swimming pool. However, to process these payments, Navande demanded a Rs 2 lakh bribe for herself and Rs 50,000 for sports officer Nanaksingh Bassi.

The complainant, who initially paid Rs 1 lakh, contacted the anti-graft agency to avoid further payments. In response, the ACB set a trap, capturing Navande in the act of accepting money, while Bassi was present. A case is now registered against the duo, with ongoing investigations at both their residences.
