In a significant achievement for Indian wrestling, Manisha Bhanwala and Antim Panghal have secured gold and bronze medals, respectively, at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2025 held in Amman, Jordan. Manisha, competing in the 62 kg category, triumphed over North Korea's Ok J Kim 8-7, marking India's first gold in women's freestyle wrestling since 2021.

After initiating her victorious journey against Kazakhstan's Tynys Dubek, Manisha advanced to defeat Korea's Hanbit Lee and toppled Kyrgyzstan's reigning champion Kalmira Bilimbek Kyzy, eventually capturing the gold in a remarkable comeback during the finals.

Meanwhile, Antim Panghal, returning from the Paris 2024 Olympics, captured bronze in the 53 kg category. She began with a 10-6 win over China's Jin Zhang but succumbed to Japan's world champion Moe Kiyooka. Antim rebounded, clinching bronze by overpowering Taipei's Meng Hsuan Hsieh, adding to India's seven-medal tally at the event.
