The Board Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL), after the abrupt cancellation of a match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium. Fans left the venue chanting slogans, amidst heightened tensions.
The match's cessation coincided with increased hostilities at the border, where the Indian Army repelled a series of drone attacks initiated by Pakistani forces. The Akash surface-to-air missile system, a vital component of India's defense, was pivotal in thwarting these incursions, ensuring the security of Indian assets.
Defense officials noted that the Akash system's successful deployment underscores its strategic importance in neutralizing threats across the western frontier. Military sources confirmed the interception of over 50 drones, underlining the effectiveness of India's countermeasures against the high-stakes military provocations.
