IPL Evacuation Drama: Teams Escaped Under Tight Security
Following a mid-way suspension of the IPL match due to a drone threat near Chandigarh, the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals contingents were evacuated from Dharamsala. Tight security ensured their safe transfer to Jalandhar before boarding a special train to New Delhi. The BCCI reaffirmed prioritizing national interest amidst the crisis.
The IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals faced an abrupt halt after a drone threat led to security concerns on Thursday. As a result, the teams were swiftly evacuated from Dharamsala under heavy security.
Kangra's Superintendent of Police, Shalini Agnihotri, confirmed that the contingents were escorted safely to Jalandhar, where they boarded a special train to New Delhi. The security operation involved collaboration between Kangra and Punjab Police forces.
The decision to suspend IPL games came as BCCI prioritized national interest in light of increased cross-border tensions, which, unfortunately, mirrored the distressing events of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
