In a closely contested match, Namdhari FC celebrated their debut in the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup by defeating South United FC 2-0. The match, held on Wednesday, saw Bhupinder and Brazilian forward Cledson DaSilva score late goals to secure the win.
Despite South United FC's efforts, including impressive saves from their goalkeeper Sunil, they ended their campaign with just one point from three matches. Namdhari's persistent attacks eventually paid off, with Bhupinder's run leading to the first goal, followed by Cledson capitalizing on a defensive error to score the second.
The victory puts Namdhari FC level with Emami East Bengal FC on three points, while Indian Air Force and South United FC continue their campaigns. Meanwhile, Kolkata is set to host a major Group B match between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Mohammedan Sporting.
