Australia's T20I captain, Mitchell Marsh, has confirmed a settled opening batting pair as the team prepares for the T20 World Cup next year in India and Sri Lanka. The Australian side will begin their preparations with a three-match T20I series against South Africa, starting Sunday.

Marsh, who filled the number three spot during the 2021 T20 World Cup, delivering a Player of the Match final performance, will now assume the opening mantle alongside Travis Head. Despite their successful pairing, the duo will debut as openers in the T20 format.

Marsh stated in Darwin that he and Head, who share a strong camaraderie, will headline Australia's batting line-up. With five different openers tested since David Warner's retirement post the Caribbean World Cup, Marsh has yet to confirm additional line-up details but acknowledged discussions around Tim David's pivotal batting role, especially after his remarkable century against the Caribbean side last month.
