Pulisic's Hamstring Woes Cast Shadow on U.S. Victory
Christian Pulisic left a match between the U.S. and Australia due to a suspected hamstring injury. The 27-year-old was substituted in the first half. Coach Mauricio Pochettino highlighted the challenges players face due to varying climates. The team's performance was impacted by weather conditions and recent injuries.
Christian Pulisic's early exit from the United States' 2-1 triumph over Australia has raised concerns about his fitness. During the first half on Tuesday night, Pulisic, a key U.S. player, was subbed out due to what appears to be a hamstring injury, according to American coach Mauricio Pochettino.
This injury comes on the heels of a right ankle issue that saw Pulisic entering the game against Ecuador late in the match last Friday. On Tuesday, he stumbled after being tripped by Jason Geria, which resulted in a yellow card for Geria from Canadian referee Pierre-Luc Lauzière. Diego Luna replaced Pulisic in the 30th minute after an assessment by the team's athletic trainer.
Pochettino noted the challenges posed by differing weather conditions across recent matches, which could have contributed to player fatigue and injuries. With home games held in both warm Austin, Texas, and colder Colorado, Pochettino acknowledged the difficulties players face in adjusting. "It's a thing that is a massive risk," he commented, expressing concern for Pulisic and teammate Malik Tillman, who also faced physical issues in recent training sessions.
