Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and SSCB clinched gold in riveting team events at the 36th Senior National Fencing Championship held on Tuesday.
In the intense men's sabre team final, Jammu and Kashmir narrowly edged out Maharashtra with a 45-38 victory, as SSCB and Uttar Pradesh settled for bronze. Earlier semi-finals saw Jammu and Kashmir overcome SSCB 45-44, while Maharashtra decisively beat Uttar Pradesh 45-29.
The women's epee team event crowned Haryana as champions after defeating Maharashtra 45-24, as Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh settled for bronze. A notable semi-final saw Haryana best Gujarat 45-33, with Maharashtra narrowly defeating Madhya Pradesh 45-42. In the men's foil final, SSCB dominated Haryana 45-26 for gold, with Tamil Nadu and Punjab taking bronze. Semi-finals saw SSCB overpower Tamil Nadu 42-29, while Haryana outdid Punjab 45-37.
