England's fast bowler Mark Wood is at risk of missing the upcoming Ashes test against Australia next week due to concerns over his left knee, as reported by various media outlets on Saturday.

Having been sidelined for nine months following knee surgery, Wood returned to the test arena last week, in a game England lost to Australia by eight wickets. Despite bowling 11 overs across two innings, Wood was unable to claim any wickets.

Wood, 35, mentioned to Fox Cricket during the first test that his participation in all five matches of the Ashes series was unlikely, with fitness reviews taking place after each game. The second match, a day-night affair, is scheduled to begin in Brisbane on Thursday.
