AAP leader Sanjay Singh urged the Rajya Sabha on Friday to immediately halt liquor sales at the Siri Fort Sports Complex, accusing the facility of violating regulations and negatively affecting its sports-loving patrons.
During the Zero Hour session, Singh highlighted that the complex, managed by the Delhi Development Authority, offers various sports amenities, including cricket, badminton, and tennis, and is popular among sports enthusiasts. Notably, former Indian cricketer Madanlal Sharma provides cricket coaching at the venue.
Singh criticized the transformation of the complex into a 'liquor den,' calling attention to the ban on alcohol and smoking on the premises. He questioned the allowance of alcohol sales after the suspension of 28 members for drinking, based on an RTI reply revealing a contradicting liquor license issued despite rule violations.
