The government of West Bengal has issued show-cause notices to high-ranking police officers, including the Director General of Police (DGP), over alleged mismanagement at a Lionel Messi event held at Salt Lake stadium last week.

Bidhannagar Deputy Police Commissioner Aneesh Sarkar has been suspended as more details emerged about chaos during the high-profile football event. The state's response stems from recommendations made by a probe committee led by retired Justice Ashim Kumar Roy.

A special investigation team has been formed consisting of four senior IPS officers to further investigate the disarray which resulted in damages estimated at Rs 2 crore. Messi was forced to leave the venue early due to the pandemonium.
