PSL Revolution: Auction System and Major Reforms Unveiled

The Pakistan Cricket Board has rolled out significant reforms for the Pakistan Super League, aiming to transform its structure and enhance competitive dynamics. The most pivotal change is the replacement of the existing draft system with a player auction format, marking a new era since the league commenced in 2016.

The franchise purse is seeing a notable increase, climbing from USD 1.3 million to USD 1.6 million, signifying a substantial investment in player acquisition and league expansion. PSL CEO Salman Naseer emphasized that these changes are designed to elevate the league's growth trajectory, promote healthy competition, and foster innovation.

Teams will now be restricted to retaining a maximum of four players, one from each category. The roles of mentor, brand ambassador, and right to match option have been scrapped. New entrants Hyderabad and Sialkot will select four players from the available pool before the auction, while franchises can also secure one foreign player who didn't partake in PSL 10 ahead of PSL 11's kickoff on March 26.
