Delhi's education and sports initiatives take a major leap forward as the city prepares to host the 'Delhi Khel Mahakumbh'. Scheduled to kick off on February 13, this month-long sports event promises an exhilarating lineup featuring kabaddi, football, athletics, wrestling, basketball, volleyball, and squash.
With Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurating the event, the government underscores its commitment to revamping the capital's sports landscape. The sports budget has seen a significant rise to Rs 76 crore for 2025-26, a move aimed at fostering young talent and improving sports facilities citywide.
The Delhi Khel Mahakumbh aspires to be more than a tournament, aiming to inspire youth participation from diverse city regions, including Bawana and Najafgarh. An official mascot, 'Ranveer', has been introduced, embodying the vibrant energy and sportsmanship the event seeks to cultivate.
