Report: 49ers, WR Garcon to split

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Pierre Garcon will become a free agent after the team declined his option for 2019, NFL Network reported Thursday. Garcon spent two seasons in San Francisco but played only 16 total games due to injuries and ended up on injured reserve each season. He turns 33 in August.

The 49ers will absorb a salary cap hit of more than $7 million. Garcon, who entered the NFL out of Mount Union with the Colts, spent four seasons in Indianapolis and joined the Washington Redskins for 2012, a five-year run that included a 113-catch, 1,346-yard campaign in 2013.

He has 628 career catches for 7,854 yards in 148 games. --Field Level Media
