As recognition of their historic triumph, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awarded them a hefty bonus of 1.31 billion rupees, six times the tournament's prize pot.
This bonus of $14.24 million eclipses the tournament's overall prize money, emphasizing the BCCI's commitment to rewarding outstanding performance. Their statement praised the players, support staff, and selectors, wishing them further success as they continue to make cricketing history.
The BCCI has a precedent of rewarding excellence, having given the Champions Trophy-winning team a notable cash bonus previously. Looking ahead, team captain Suryakumar Yadav has set his sights on leading the team to Olympic gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, highlighting their ambition beyond the cricket field.
