In a major crackdown on illegal ticket sales, a 49-year-old Bengaluru resident, Chandrashekar P, has been apprehended by the Central Crime Branch for selling IPL match tickets at inflated rates outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The arrest followed a tip-off during the April 15 match between RCB and LSG, where tickets reportedly changed hands at exorbitant prices. Investigations revealed that Chandrashekar, who was employed at the stadium's catering service, was reselling tickets purchased in bulk under two corporate names.
Further probes uncovered similar malpractices during earlier matches this season, suggesting a broader illegal network. Authorities are now delving deeper to identify further individuals implicated in this lucrative racket. Chandrashekar's arrest is just the start of wider investigations into ticket scalping at major sports events.
