Colombian-born striker Brayan Leon ensured Mamelodi Sundowns' progression to the African Champions League final, overcoming a missed penalty with a follow-up strike to secure a 1-0 victory over Tunisia's Esperance at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

The decisive goal, his second in the semi-final tie, extended Sundowns' aggregate lead to 2-0 after a prior win in Tunis. Awaiting their challenge in the final are either Morocco's Royal Armed Forces or Renaissance Berkane, set to clash later with the former holding a 2-0 edge from the first leg.

Leon was awarded the crucial penalty after cleverly intercepting a back pass that caught Esperance's goalkeeper, Bechir Ben Said, off guard. Despite a near equalizer from Esperance's Florin Danho, whose shot hit the crossbar shortly before halftime, Sundowns held firm to advance.
