Young, 40, currently at Ipswich Town in the Championship, announced his decision in an Instagram post, marking Saturday as possibly his final professional match.
Starting at Watford in 2003, Young quickly made a name for himself, contributing significantly to their Premier League promotion in 2006. His move to Aston Villa in 2007 saw him become one of the most formidable wide players in the league, winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2009.
Young's career peaked during his time at Manchester United, under Sir Alex Ferguson. He won the Premier League in 2013, the FA Cup in 2016, and the Europa League in 2017. His transformation from a winger to a full-back, even becoming club captain, highlights his adaptability and leadership. Internationally, he earned 39 caps for England, participating in major tournaments like the 2012 European Championship and the 2018 World Cup.
