Sanju Samson: India's Next T20I Captain?
Ravi Shastri endorses Sanju Samson for India's T20I captaincy, citing his IPL leadership experience and stellar batting form. With a strong performance in domestic and international cricket, Samson shows growing consistency and maturity, making him a prime candidate for future leadership roles.
Former Indian cricket coach and distinguished all-rounder Ravi Shastri has thrown his weight behind Sanju Samson as a potential candidate for India's T20I captaincy. Shastri highlights Samson's experience, especially as the former captain of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, combined with his burgeoning consistency and maturity with the bat.
Shastri's advocacy comes after Suryakumar Yadav successfully led India to victory in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, a tournament where Samson shone, earning the title of 'Player of the Tournament' after amassing 321 runs, including a series of half-centuries from the Super Eight clash against West Indies to the final against New Zealand.
Discussing India's prospects post-2028 T20 World Cup, Shastri, in his conversation with Sanjana Ganesan on The ICC Review, suggested a leadership role for Samson, owing to his commanding presence and performance in recent IPL seasons. Shastri commended Samson's impressive performance this season, noting his significant contribution to Rajasthan Royals and his current form with Chennai Super Kings, asserting that it establishes him as a frontrunner for future leadership.
