In a stunning debut, Diamond Harbour FC clinched the Indian Football League (IFL) title on Sunday, earning promotion to the Indian Super League. The Bengal side's 1-1 draw against Dempo SC, achieved through an injury-time goal from Hugo Diaz, allowed them to become the league champions in their very first season.

Having needed just a point to secure the title, Diamond Harbour came from behind after Marcus Joseph's strike had put Dempo in the lead. Though initially showing signs of nervousness, they maintained composure until Diaz's header found the back of the net, sealing their spot atop the standings.

Owned by Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, Diamond Harbour's triumph marks their third consecutive promotion.
