Brendon McCullum, the head coach of England's men's cricket team, has expressed deep concern for Test captain Ben Stokes after both Stokes and Gus Atkinson were ruled out of the upcoming second Test against New Zealand for breaking the team's midnight curfew.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the breach followed England's victory at Lord's, with the pair reportedly involved in an incident resulting in the team's security liaison officer requiring medical treatment after an altercation with a Saracens rugby player.

Addressing the issue, McCullum acknowledged his initial disappointment, which quickly turned to worry specifically for Stokes. He emphasized the need to support both players while adhering to team standards. While praising Stokes' leadership, McCullum stated that future captaincy decisions would take backseat to ensuring Stokes' well-being and offering support during this challenging period.
