Harper's trade make Phillies react swiftly

Philadelphia Phillies fans reacted swiftly to the $330 million investment the team made in Bryce Harper with 100,000 new tickets sold in a 24-hour period. After the club's 13-year mega-deal with Harper was reported Thursday, the ticket office got down to business. It was not a surprise for the group.

"Just as everybody has talked about (a potential Harper signing) for four months, we've talked about this for four months," Phillies senior vice president of ticket operations John Weber said on Philadelphia sports radio station WIP on Friday morning. "It was almost like a volcano. We've talked about this forever." The 100,000 in ticket sales have come even though the Phillies still have not officially announced the signing. A large number of sales in a one-day span appears to be a record for the team, which moved into 43,035-seat Citizens Bank Park in 2004.

"It was an exciting day," said Weber, who has been with the team for more than 30 years. "We stayed open until 6:30. We'll be open this Saturday and looking forward to the season."
