Pirates’ Dickerson (shoulder) may be out for month

Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Corey Dickerson has an injured right shoulder and might miss at least a month of playing time, according to a report Thursday at DKPittsburghSports.com. On Thursday afternoon, the Pirates announced that they placed Dickerson on the 10-day injured list with a posterior right shoulder strain. He grounded out in a pinch-hit appearance in the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Dickerson, 29, who is batting .154 with one home run and two RBIs in 13 at-bats over four games this season, is the third Pirates outfielder to land on the injured list. Gregory Polanco and Lonnie Chisenhall are also on the 10-day IL. To take Dickerson's place on the 25-man active roster, Pittsburgh reinstated right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles from the 10-day IL.

Dickerson batted .300 in 2019 and won a Gold Glove. In his seventh major league season, he previously played for the Colorado Rockies (2013-15) and Tampa Bay Rays (2016-17). His career batting average is .283, with 104 home runs and 313 RBIs. --Field Level Media
