Pension of sportspersons doubled under Sports fund scheme

Pension of sportspersons has been doubled with effect from 1.4.2018 under the Scheme of 'Sports fund for Pension to Meritorious Sportspersons'.
Retired sportspersons are provided service opportunities against sports quota in Central Government and its entities. Retired sportspersons are also supported to set up academies and coaching facilities under the National Sports Development Fund.
This Information was given by the Minister of State (I/C) Shri Kiren Rijiju in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
