Mariners place RHPs Adams, Altavilla on IL

The Seattle Mariners placed right-handed relievers Austin Adams and Dan Altavilla on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. The 28-year-old Adams is dealing with a right shoulder strain, while the 26-year-old Altavilla has a strained right forearm.

Right-handers Parker Markel and David McKay were recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to fill the roster openings. Adams is 1-1 with a 3.47 ERA in 21 appearances (two starts) this season. He has struck out 41 in just 23 1/3 innings.

Altavilla has a 9.53 ERA in seven appearances this season. McKay, 24, compiled a 1.80 ERA in five appearances for the Mariners in May. He is 3-0 with a 3.76 ERA in 24 appearances for Tacoma.

Markel, 28, had a 14.73 ERA in four May outings for Seattle. He is 4-0 with a 2.16 ERA in 25 appearances between the Double-A and Triple-A levels.
