Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey will not be available for Thursday's Euro 2020 qualifier in Slovakia as he continues to recover from a muscle injury, the country's football association said. Ramsey was an unused substitute in Juventus' 2-1 Serie A win at Inter Milan on Sunday and Juve boss Maurizio Sarri said he was left on the bench as a precaution after he felt a thigh muscle twinge when warming up at halftime.

The former Arsenal man did not travel with the national squad to Trnava and Wales said on Wednesday that they hope to have him back for their next qualifier at home to Croatia on Sunday. "He has a chance for Sunday. He just had a little bit of tightness in his adductor from last Sunday," manager Ryan Giggs told reporters.

"He did a bit on the grass today. The physio stayed back to work with him for the next couple of days and we're hopeful he'll be available for Sunday." Ramsey has struggled with injuries since last season and has not played for Wales since a friendly win over Albania in November last year. He has appeared five times for the Italian champions this season, scoring once in the league.

Wales are currently fourth in Group E with six points. However, they have a game in hand over leaders Croatia (10 points), Slovakia and Hungary (nine points each).
