Bharti Airtel has entered into a strategic partnership with Matter Motor Works to deploy its Internet of Things (IoT) solution in Matter AERA, India's first and only geared electric motorbike.
"Airtel is delighted to partner with Matter Motor Works and offer best-in-class connected mobility solutions to their consumers using our cutting-edge IoT solutions. As the country embarks on its ambitious goal to reduce its carbon footprint, green mobility will play a critical role in helping India achieve its net zero goals. We look forward to this partnership, to setting new benchmarks and demonstrating how technology can enable efficient services and solutions for companies that embrace technology," said Harish Laddha, CEO - Emerging Business, Airtel.
As part of the collaboration, Airtel will facilitate the implementation of advanced automotive-grade eSIMs (Embedded SIM cards) on all Matter AERA bikes. The pre-booking for these cutting-edge electric motorbikes commenced on May 17.
In the initial phase, Airtel plans to equip 60,000 Matter AERA bikes with its advanced eSIMs, enabling seamless connectivity and offering a smart and connected experience for riders.
Matter Motor Works has ambitious plans to manufacture more than 300,000 electric motorbikes within the next three years. With Airtel's robust IoT platform - Airtel IoT Hub - integrated into the Matter AERA bikes, it will be possible to track these vehicles in real-time. The platform will also help monitor performance with advanced analytics, ensuring optimal efficiency while maintaining extremely high reliability augmented by telco-grade security, Airtel said in a press release.
Commenting on this partnership, Matter Founder and CEO, Mohal Lalbhai, added, "The Internet-enabled motorbike has the power to curate and redesign connected experiences, making Matter's AERA the smart bike of the future. We are extremely delighted to partner with Airtel to start our journey of connectivity on the move, deploying the power of IoT for continuously enhancing experiences."
