Google Drive now lets you filter files or folders by people or groups
Google Drive is adding a new filter that allows you to see which files or folders have been shared with specific people or groups. The new filter is available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts.
"Whether you're trying to share a file with more audiences or reduce oversharing, this feature will give you greater visibility into who has access to files within and outside of your organization," Google wrote in a post.
To find files shared with a person or group, follow these steps:
- Go to My Drive, Shared drives, Shared with me, or Recent
- Click on the "People" filter
- Search for a person or group with whom the files are shared within the filter
- Select "Shared with"
- View the filtered list of files
To find files shared outside of your organization
- Click on "People" filter
- Select "External users"
- View the filtered list of files
To find files you own that are shared with a specific person or group
- Click on "People" filter
- Search for yourself and select "Owner"
- Click on "People" filter
- Search for a person or group who the files are shared within the filter
- View the filtered list of files
The new filter in Google Drive is gradually rolling out to Rapid Release domains and may take up to 15 days to be fully visible. For Scheduled Release domains, the gradual rollout will commence on December 5, 2023.
