Odisha's Leap in Semiconductor Manufacturing: First Silicon Carbide Facility Initiated

Odisha’s Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, inaugurated India's first silicon carbide manufacturing facility by RIR Power Electronics Ltd at Infovalley, Bhubaneswar. The Rs 620 crore project aims to make Odisha a semiconductor hub, creating over 500 jobs and fostering local innovation.

In a landmark move, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the foundation stone for India’s first silicon carbide manufacturing facility at Infovalley near Bhubaneswar on Friday.

This advanced facility, spearheaded by RIR Power Electronics Ltd, aims to transform Odisha into a key player in the semiconductor industry.

The facility, with an investment of Rs 620 crore, is set to generate over 500 jobs and stimulate local innovation, reflecting Odisha's potential to attract significant investments in the semiconductor sector.
