DSV is poised to become the world's largest logistics firm following its acquisition of Schenker, the logistics division of Deutsche Bahn, for €14.3 billion ($15.85 billion). The deal will significantly expand DSV's workforce and revenue, pushing it ahead of competitors DHL Logistics and Kuehne und Nagel.
Founded in 1976 by Leif Tullberg and nine other truckers, DSV has grown from a modest operation into a global logistics giant with more than 75,000 employees. The acquisition of Schenker will swell its workforce to 147,000 and boost its annual revenue to 293 billion Danish crowns ($43.52 billion).
Despite becoming the largest player in the logistics sector, DSV will occupy just 6% to 7% of the highly fragmented global market. The logistics industry is expected to grow significantly, fueled by the rise of e-commerce and integrated shipping services.
