In a devastating assault, a Russian drone strike has claimed the lives of three individuals, including a child, in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy. The tragic event forms part of a larger overnight attack on Ukraine, which focused on both residential neighborhoods and critical infrastructure, as confirmed by regional governor Ihor Kalchenko.

Governor Kalchenko shared harrowing images depicting the aftermath: smouldering ruins and homes left damaged in the wake of the assault. According to a statement from the Ukrainian military, air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed 42 out of 60 drones launched by Russia, though 10 drones' locations could not be confirmed.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, a Russian drone strike at a bus stop in Kherson resulted in injuries to a woman on Tuesday. Despite these ongoing attacks, which have been occurring since Russia's large-scale invasion commenced in February 2022, the Russian government continues to deny allegations of targeting civilian areas.
