The Japanese components titan, a dominant force in global smartphone battery supply, is steering its focus towards the burgeoning EV market by offering inverters and sensors.
TDK's technology currently powers Nissan e-4ORCE 05 cars under McLaren, marking a pivotal step towards its ambition to bolster its presence in the EV supply chain. Taro Ikushima, CEO of TDK's Electronic Components Business Company, emphasized the significance of collaborating with Formula E for cutting-edge technological advancements in this sector.
While TDK's automotive components sector constitutes a significant portion of its sales, the shift towards Formula E underscores the growing intrigue in electric racing circuits. Despite Toyota's prediction of EV market saturation, TDK sees prospects with hybrids and electric vehicles significantly boosting demand for advanced ceramic components.
