Transformative Rural Connectivity: BharatNet Empowering India's Villages

The BharatNet project, led by the Department of Telecommunications, aims to provide affordable high-speed internet to rural India. As of February 2025, over 2 lakh gram panchayats are service-ready. Key advancements include the Union Cabinet-approved Amended BharatNet Program, which will enhance the existing network infrastructure, aiming to service additional 42,000 gram panchayats by March 2027.
