In an unprecedented move driven by soaring temperatures, UEFA has announced that fans will be permitted to carry water bottles into stadiums for certain matches at the Women's European Championship. The decision comes as Switzerland braces for sweltering weather, with temperatures expected to rise above 30 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, UEFA confirmed a temporary relaxation of its stringent security regulations to accommodate the extreme heat predicted for the tournament kickoff on July 2 and 3 at Euro 2025. Attendees will be allowed to enter with a half-litre bottle, provided it is made from plastic or aluminium, while glass remains strictly prohibited.

Meteorologists have forecasted a mercury surge up to 35 degrees in Basel, coinciding with Switzerland's game against Norway. UEFA, aiming to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience, has issued fan advisories to seek shade and stay hydrated, with referees empowered to implement cooling breaks during games exceeding 35 degrees.
