An agreement to propel India's defence self-reliance was sealed on Monday as stakeholders committed to build a cutting-edge testing facility in Tamil Nadu's Defence Industrial Corridor in Tiruchirappalli.

Recognizing the strategic importance, high-ranking officials, including Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary of Defence Production, orchestrated the memorandum's exchange between the Ministry of Defence and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO).

With a significant outlay of Rs 400 crore, the project will ensure that advanced testing equipment is accessible to government and private sectors alike, thus bolstering indigenous defence manufacturing under the Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme, launched by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
