Zoom Communications has been slapped with a substantial fine by a Russian court. The penalty amounts to 79.6 million roubles, equivalent to approximately $965,779. This fine is due to Zoom's failure to comply with legal mandates for foreign entities operating within Russia's internet domain.
The decision was announced by the Moscow courts press service. As of now, there has been no immediate response from Zoom regarding the court's ruling or how the company plans to address the situation.
This development comes amidst ongoing scrutiny of foreign technology companies operating in Russia, with the government enforcing stricter regulations. The exchange rate at the time of the court's decision pegged the US dollar at 82.4205 roubles.
