Amazon is setting a transformative agenda for India's future with its planned $12.7 billion investment aimed at developing local cloud and AI infrastructure by 2030. The initiative is poised to positively impact 15 million small businesses across the country, according to a senior company official.
Announced on a popular social media platform, Amazon's plan also includes a sweeping educational component. In the next five years, 4 million government-school students are targeted to receive training in AI, aligning with the Government of India's AI Mission.
Since 2017, Amazon Web Services has successfully equipped over 6.2 million individuals with cloud skills in India. As part of this ambitious effort, new AI courses have been introduced alongside existing programs such as AWS Skill Builder and AWS Educate.
