Wipro, a leading IT corporation, has revised its fresher hiring projection for fiscal year 2026 from an initial 10,000-12,000 graduates to 7,500-8,000. This recalibration follows a muted performance in the third quarter, during which only 400 new recruits joined the company.
The tech giant stressed a strategic pivot towards recruiting AI-ready talent, launching 50 Centers of Excellence across universities to align graduates' skills with emerging market needs, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data science.
Despite overall slower recruitment, Wipro made significant gains by adding 6,529 employees between October and December, thanks primarily to strategic acquisitions and a major deal from the previous fiscal year. The company's third-quarter net profit dipped by 7% due to restructuring costs, even as revenue rose by 5.5% year-over-year.
