Lost Oscar: Documentary Director Faces Unexpected Challenges

Pavel Talankin, the Russian director who secured the Oscar for best documentary with "Mr. Nobody Against Putin," finds himself in an unusual predicament. The coveted statuette has disappeared after being checked into hold luggage during his flight from New York to Germany.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at JFK Airport informed Talankin that the weighty Oscar could potentially be used as a weapon, leading to its placement in checked baggage according to his co-director, David Borenstein. Unfortunately, upon arrival in Frankfurt, the statuette was nowhere to be found.

Lufthansa assured they are handling the case with urgency, launching a detailed search to locate the award. The incident has sparked criticism from Talankin, who expressed confusion over the Oscar being considered a threat, despite previous trouble-free flights with the trophy in the cabin.
