Facebook and Instagram down: Site and App not working

According to the website DownDetector, social media website Facebook and Instagram website and app are not working and the problems started around 4 pm (GMT) and appears to be affecting users from India, Indonesia and Toronto.

Some users have posted on Twitter that they're seeing a message saying Facebook is "down for maintenance." As per reports Facebook confirmed and said that they are fixing the issues and will be back soon.

"Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes. In the meantime, read more about why you're seeing this message. Thanks for your patience as we improve the site.", further added.
