Xiaomi confirms Mi A3 with 48MP camera set for India launch on Aug 21

The global model of the Mi A3 comes with a 6.088-inch OLED display that offers a screen resolution of 1520x720 pixels.

India's leading smartphone brand Xiaomi is all set to launch its latest Android One smartphone Mi A3, the successor to the Mi A2, on 21st August at 12 noon, the China-based phone maker confirmed in a tweet via its official handle.

The Mi A3 was launched in Spain, last month, in two variants 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage for nearly INR 20,000 and 4GB RAM + 128GB internal storage for nearly INR 22,000. The phone also an in-display fingerprint sensor

The launch was also confirmed by Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi Global VP, and India's head, in a tweet. He was also seen in a teaser video posted by Xiaomi India in its official YouTube channel, flaunting a blue shade Mi A3 with a triple rear camera set up and asking users to guess when the company will launch its next Android One smartphone in India?

In the teaser, he also highlighted the achievements of Xiaomi in the Indian smartphone market.

Mi A3 specifications

Xiaomi Mi A3 boasts a 6.08-inch HD+ (1560 x 720 pixels) resolution AMOLED Dot Drop display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a waterdrop-style notch. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC coupled with Adreno 610 GPU.

It features a 32-megapixel AI selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture for perfect shots and triple rear camera set up that includes a 48MP high-resolution primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture, 118° ultra-wide 8MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.

As far as memory is concerned, the phone comes with 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage option and 4GB RAM + 128GB internal storage. It also has a microSD card slot which supports storage expansion up to 256GB. It is equipped with an in-built 4,030 mAh high-capacity battery, which also supports 18W fast charging and Quick Charge 3.0 Technology. The phone is available in three colors, namely: Kind of Gray, Not just Blue and More than White

Xiaomi, which forayed into the Indian smartphone market five years ago, gives a tough competition to South Korean brand Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, and other big players. To recount, the Chinese company led the Indian smartphone market with a 28 percent share in 2018 and then again topped the tally with 30.6 percent market share in the March 2019 quarter.
